It is the setting for “As the Moon, so Beautiful”, the innocent junior high school romance anime that everyone is talking about (currently airing).
Kawagoe Third Municipal Junior High School
The school attended by protagonists Kotaro Azumi and Akane Mizuno and friends.
While it may be called Kawagoe Third Municipal Junior High School in As the Moon, so Beautiful (which is set in Kawagoe), news has gotten out that it is based on Meisei Gakuen Elementary and Junior High School in Mitaka, Tokyo. In the anime it’s just a junior high school, but in reality it’s an elementary and junior high school. It is surprising that, while in the anime there are frequent scenes set in Kawagoe City in Saitama Prefecture, the school is really in Tokyo.
The area of the school gate and the shape of the school building from the official site are a match. The blooming cherry blossom is even clearly reproduced in the anime.
You can see the blooming cherry blossom clearly in the street view of April 2014.

Family restaurant “Gast”
This is the family restaurant that appears in episode 1. While it is called “Guest” in the anime, the real location is “Gasto-Honkawagoe-ten” which near Honkawagoe Station. According to social media, not only the outside appearance but even the interior features like window placement are faithfully reproduced, as are the sense of space and air.
Many fans, having watched As the Moon, So Beautiful, are going to visit Kawagoe in real life, and the streets around the main locations are great for sightseeing. Fans are uploading their meals and strolls to social media and it’s a charming town for a sightseeing holiday, not only for visiting the anime locations.
